It is snowing! I love snow. I love the newness of a changed season, the clean white ground, and last but not least, the possibility of snow days! Most people may be shocked, but teachers are just as excited for snow days as the students. Although I do love winter, driving on the icy, snowy roads is not something to which I am looking forward.
I drive an eight year old Impala that does not really like snowy roads. This is mostly due to the fact that she really likes to be driven about ten miles per hour over the speed limit. So, not only do I feel bad holding her back from her full speed potential, but I really do not want to end up stuck like I did three times last year. Thank goodness for my great husband! We generally leave the house with plenty of time to make the thirty mile commute to school. Prayers, Prince, and NPR guide us along our sometimes white-knuckle journey.
I am thankful that tomorrow is December and we still have not had really bad weather. I am thankful I have a car, even if it is not fancy and does not perform well on South Dakota winter roads. I am also thankful for a husband who will come to my rescue when the Impala lets me down.
God bless you as your week draws to an end.
